Spur Steak Ranches is proud sponsor of various rugby initiatives nationally. Our sponsorship of Ithembelihle Comprehensive school is a special one. We assist the school with whatever they need to compete, no matter the venue, fixture or opposing team. In this video, we get to see the tangible impact these kinds of sponsorships make, not just materially, but holistically too. Like the Ithembelihle sponsorship, our rugby sponsorships fall within the important context of rugby development. This is in line within our Spur Sports strategy to get kids active in sport.
Since 2008, we have fully invested ourselves into the Ithembelihle Rugby Team, a CSI Initiative proudly managed by head coach Theo Pieterse. This great initiative sees kids from previously disadvantaged areas in and around Port Elizabeth townships with a true love for rugby join the program. The program has seen many players flourish under the leadership of Theo Pieterse, learning from his vast experience, including the likes of the late Solly Tyibilika and many more. Every year, the boys receive the opportunity to participate in The Grey High School Festival, which sees them battle it out against top schools in the Eastern Cape region. Spur is delighted to be giving back to the community through this initiative and we believe that we can make a real difference to the lives of these young men, teaching them that through hard work and dedication anything is possible.
